The Concept

Stjarna is the Nordic word for "star". It's the name I've chosen for the ship I'm going to live and work on. It's also the name of my business, run from the ship.

I have a bachelor of fine arts from a fantastic university called the Savannah College of Art and Design, and over two years of experience working with interactive media, but I'm not overly fond of living out the prime of my life in an office environment (and I think I'm not alone in that). So, I've decided to utilize my talents as a designer to run a freelance commercial media business - Stjarna FCM (freelance commercial media).

Not only will I write copy for businesses, I can provide almost any kind of media creation and manipulation one might require for a professional website (including the websites themselves). And thanks to advances in modern technology, I've realized I can do this all remotely and from a cruising ship, and provide great deals for my clients as my needs will be few and the distractions infrequent.

The truth is I just want a simple and rewarding life, with lots of writing and great experiences, and if I can support that by providing quality media for companies, small businesses, or personal projects that's more than acceptable. I reckon it's possible for me to pull it off too, as I have the talent, the resources, and the confidence to try it.

This blog will be Stjarna FCM's informal newsletter, as well as the public log of my process in setting up this lifestyle, and how I fare once I set out for good.
